Who should apply?

MIT sophomores and juniors in engineering and related majors are welcome to apply. You should have an interest in working in engineering-related industries in the future and the necessary time in your schedule to complete all program requirements. Your engagement and commitment are the primary factors that will determine your success!

The Undergraduate Practice Opportunities Program provides a strong foundation for GEL, but it is not a prerequisite.

APPLICATION DEADLINES

MIT Students:

Early Application Deadline: March 8, 2026 (Sunday), 11:59 p.m.
Regular Application Deadline: April 12, 2026 (Sunday), 11:59 p.m.

Submitting an Early Action application enables you to receive an earlier admission decision. Applicants who apply later will be considered for a smaller pool of remaining seats.

Cross-Registered (Wellesley) Students:

Application Deadline: March 8, 2026 (Sunday), 11:59 p.m.

Cross-registering students may only apply during the EARLY APPLICATION period. Applications submitted after the Early Application Deadline (03/08/26) will not be considered.

INTERVIEW INFORMATION

• Interviews are required and conducted on a rolling basis. At the end of the online application, you will be directed to our scheduling page to book an informal 30‑minute interview with a GEL staff member.
• To be eligible for Early / Cross-Registered Admission, applicants must schedule and complete their interview by: April 1, 2026 (Wednesday).
• For Regular Admission, interviews must be scheduled by: April 15th, 2026 (Wednesday) and completed no later than: April 24, 2026 (Friday).
